Kuramathi is one of the larger islands and is located in Rashdoo Atoll, with the main focus of course being on the Kuramathi Village Maldives. The bungalows are located in a truly beautiful location. The bungalows in Coconut Village are all made of wood and built as in a somewhat traditional manor.

The transfer to Kuramathi Village Maldives is made with a sea plane and takes about 25 minutes; alternatively the fast boat takes to travel around is 80min. You can rent out kayaks, surfboards and even catamarans. In addition to the pool there is a small gym.

The reef is really great just off the resort. As with most resorts in the Maldives, it is wonderful for snorkelling and its possible to see sharks, eagle rays, moray eels, turtles and many kinds of exotic fish..

There is of course also diving available at the Kuramathi Village Maldives with the school located on the pier; this makes the loading of the boat very easy. There are around 30 dive sites nearby. Only about 12 people can go on the trips at one time and it is possible to take a PADI diving course.

Meals are extravagant and of the highest quality and often take the form of a quality buffet with plenty of choice for vegetarians at Kuramathi Village Maldives.

Excursions include 24 lonely hours on the neighbouring island; try the so-called Robinson Crusoe trip. The island is small but you can find pretty good shopping, especially for souvenirs. Entertainment at Kuramathi Village Maldives is provided by professional artists as well as Karaoke.

A beautiful resort and well worth taking a closer look at if you are considering visiting the Maldives.

The Maldives economy has its major base in the area of international tourism with a total of 87 specially designated tourist resort islands that have been developed in special arrangements between national governments and private international investors, many of which are household name chain hotel brands such as Hilton, Sheraton, Vermillion and Four seasons.

Tourism provides the Maldives economy with most of its employment not only in internationally owned hotels but also in local Maldives business ventures such as dive schools and eating establishments and many other areas that cater for tourists needs.

There are national government institutions that provide tourism related employment such as the international airport and the Maldives tourist board. There is a lot of indirect tourism employment as well such a fishermen and small farmers who sell their goods to hotels and restaurants, or a carpenter that makes a living doing minor repairs at tourist related Maldives business establishments.

Tourism is vastly important to the Maldives economy but it is not the nation’s only source of income. Agriculture is also an important part of the national and local economy, although with limited viable land there is no room for expansion so income is somewhat limited by resources. Millet and sweet potatoes are two of the main island crops as well as Bataten, pumpkins, coconut palms and cassava.

The problem with food sales is that because of the lack of land, imports of foods stuffs far out weighs home grown production putting pressure on basic food prices. Not surprisingly fishing is a part of the Maldives economy with tuna and bonito brought home in reasonably high numbers. There is also the preparation of “Dive Male fish,” a kind of dried fish, mainly exported to Japan.

There are also cottage industry Maldives business activities mostly concerned with handicrafts such as coconut mats, ropes, lacquer work and carvings and the textile factory. These are sold locally and also exported to the country’s main trading partners, Britain, Sri Lanka, Germany and Japan.

The Maldives are statistically amongst the poorest countries in the world but very wisely the government has placed a heavy emphasis on future Maldives business establishment by investing in their biggest resource, their children. With a well respected education system, 99% of all children can read and write, higher than in many wealthy western countries.

The obvious hope is that these young people will be able to bring a new educated attitude to the Maldives economy to help in the further development of tourism and hopefully spread Maldives business into new directions to secure the Maldives economy for future generations.

The resorts in the archipelago of the Maldives attract visitors with the promise of offering “the last paradise on earth” with the help of a Maldives travel guide. Those who have enjoyed pristine paradise of tropical islands where the palm trees, white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons return again and again to enjoy their magic.

This is one of the world’s major destinations for divers who visit the Atols. They are attracted by the beauty of its coral reefs and rich marine life. However, there is not suitable facility’s for backpackers with a low budget or for lovers of independent travel. Any Maldives travel guide will tell you that tourism is controlled with scrupulous guidelines with a management plan that identifies the tourism environment.

The Robinson Crusoe lifestyle is one of the main attractions, but Maldives travel guide recommendations consider this incompatible with mass tourism, low budget and large scale tourism is strictly discouraged. The lack of local resources forces the importation of a large portion of the needs of visitors, from furniture to fresh vegetables, so it is impossible for the Maldives travel guide to offer holidays that can compete on price.

The strategy used was based on developing a limited number of quality centres on each uninhabited island, free of traffic, crime and rampant commercialism.

The strategy also seeks tourists and guide Maldives on a path to minimize the harmful effects of tourism on traditional Muslim communities. Passengers may often make brief visits to fishing villages and then return to the more tourist related areas. Most feel happy to glimpse local life and local culture but those wishing to stay longer or travel to the atolls outside recreational areas, must argue a compelling reason and have a special permit together to local guarantor as well as the services of a licensed Maldives travel guide.

Like it or not, this so rigidly controlled tourism industry has achieved a huge success, there are a relatively small number of high quality resorts, the number of visitors is increasing steadily and the impact on the natural and social environment is minimal. The Maldives is internationally recognized as a model for sustainable tourism development that respects the environment and serves as an eco tourism guide. Maldives quality of accommodations and facilities is the envy of many other destinations that have allowed uncontrolled and destructive tourism expansion.

Beaches in Maldives are so numerous and so exotic it almost defies the imagination. Many other tropical countries boast some of the most stunning beach areas in the world, such as Bohol in the Philippines and Phi Phi in Thailand, however the beaches in Maldives have no need to point out this or that beach as being the most stunning or idyllic because the Maldives is overwhelmed with hundreds of beaches that can compete with the finest beaches that any other tourist destination can offer.

The reason there is no shortage of stunning beach locations is that there are over 1190 atolls making up this island nation, each with miles of breathtaking coastline. Each of these islands is encircled with a reef which encloses a shallow lagoon holding back the waves from the snow white sands.

These beaches are not exactly over-crowded. With so many choices there is always a totally deserted spot to get away from the rest of the world and find total and complete solitude.

Most of the famed beaches in Maldives are found at the 80 resorts dotted throughout the atolls. Each of these resorts occupies its own private island with all the luxuries and tranquillity imaginable. These islands provide totally unspoilt pure white sand beaches backed by picture perfect palm trees leaning out at impossible angles to reach towards the azure blue crystal clear waters that have never encountered any of the worlds pollution.

If you ever tire of lazing in a hammock under a coconut palm sipping exotic fruit drinks, the beaches in the Maldives can offer all kinds of other temptations including many exciting trips to other tiny uninhabited islands with there own ring of footprint-less beachfront.

Diving and snorkelling are incredibly popular and that is hardly surprising with all the excitement of endless miles of stunning coral reefs lying just a few hundred yards offshore. Many people love the fishing that can be enjoyed either from the beach itself, or on deeper water fishing excursions with local expert guides.

Swimming, windsurfing, sailing and all kinds of water sports can be arranged at most resorts allowing you to make full use of the beaches in the Maldives facilities.

If you are seeking a romantic getaway or a relaxing laid back escape, it’s hard to imagine anywhere that can compete with the endless beaches in Maldives that offer the visitor the opportunity to experience life as it was meant to be.

Many locations around the world lay claim to the ultimate or the honeymoon location but only one can offer the unrivaled beauty and serenity of a honeymoon in Maldives. Numerous ultra luxury resorts dot the 200 inhabited islands of the 1200 island chain, many of these resorts are the only occupants of small islands.

The Maldives resorts are actually often not built on the land itself but put out on the water, with individual tiny villas sitting above the ocean on stilts, giving an incredibly romantic backdrop to any honeymoon Maldives package.

Many resorts offer incredibly romantic unique wedding packages, with sunset beach weddings easily topping the list of the most popular and exciting wedding opportunities.

Couples choosing to honeymoon in Maldives, do so not only for its incredible and unspoilt beauty but also because of its isolation and the ability to totally ‘get away from it all’ and not be disturbed. This of course enables you to spend you’re first married days together in a romantic but pampered isolation.

If you want to venture out of your exotic over the water retreat, Maldives has an incredible array of sites and sounds that will always excite any visiting couples who choose a Maldives honeymoon.

A lot of the attractions of these incredible islands are to be found on and under the crystal clear ocean waters. All kinds of water sports can be found in the Maldives including surfing. Jet skis, paragliding, waterskiing and sailing.

There are also boat trips to the remote and beautiful uninhabited islands, explore the jungle vegetation, or just sit on the totally unspoilt, snow-white, palm fringed beaches.

Scuba divers flock to the islands to explore its incredible coral reefs, many of which are found just yards off shore. If you have no scuba diving skills, there are many schools that can teach you all basics you need to explore the amazing underwater scenery.

It’s no wonder that a honeymoon in inclusive Maldives is regarded as a most romantic and exciting destination for any newly married couple to spend the first few days together as man and wife.

Holidaymakers have been surfing in the Maldives, since the late 1970s, some operators can offer cruises around the island’s with an emphasis very heavily on surfing. This enables Maldives surfing enthusiasts to reach exotic surfing locations, that seem be far out in the ocean.

The Maldives surfing season runs from May until October during the Southwest monsoon. Many professional surfers come to the islands to practice their skills and participate in international surfing competitions.

With so many islands and reefs, surfing Maldives is varying and contrasting, giving opportunities for an exciting surfing experience for everyone, from beginners to serious enthusiasts.

With so many, action packed locations surfing in the Maldives can be an incredible experience. Below we list, just a few of the hotspots. Many exciting surfing locations do not even have names, but are well known to local guides. If you get to know the locals, you might be able to find out a couple of the very secret surf locations that only the locals know about.

Surfing Maldives attractions include Dhonveli Beach and Spa located in North Male, this is a popular spot for beginners and intermediate surfers. Nearby, there is Honkys, which has a reputation for some of the best surfing in the islands.

Sultan’s boasts breakers in the four to five feet range out of season and during the monsoon double that height and possibly more. The monsoon season for surfing in the Maldives, runs from the end of February to the middle of November each year. With arguably the best waves, running from September to November and then again from mid-March through May.

The water in some areas can be quite shallow and care should be taken with the coral beds, which are sometimes just below the surface. There are a few surf shops on the islands; serious enthusiasts should bring their own equipment with them. If you just want to experience surfing Maldives for the first time, you are able to hire equipment.

Here are some more popular locations for surfing in the Maldives. Cokes is located at Thulusdhoo on the Eastern Reef of North Male. Gurus can be found on the Southern end of North Male. Quarters is a stunning location on the uninhabited island of Gulhigaathuhura.

The not so romantically named Tomb Stones is situated by the uninhabited island of Thamburudhoo on the Eastern Reef of North Male. A popular destination for surfers is Full Moon Beach Resort Male’ Island Point, Furana Fushi Island.

There are so many hot Maldives surfing areas it is impossible to list them all here. As we mentioned earlier, many of them simply do not have names and many spots way off the main islands that local guides can escort you to.

One of the most amazing things about surfing in the Maldives is the idea that you can be ‘miles out to sea’ surfing in the middle of the ocean, but due to the structure of the atoll’s, you may only be in a few feet of water, with waves crashing on to a slightly submerged coral reef. Maldives surfing has so much to offer the beginner and the serious surfing enthusiast. It is one of those ‘do before you die’ world surfing locations.

The isolated chain of stunning islands is a magnet for all kinds of water sports enthusiasts. However, its real attraction is for a diving holiday in Maldives, and huge numbers of excited tourists arrive each year to sample its stunning underwater scenery by diving Maldives.

Looking out from one of the stunning white sand beaches towards the sea, it appears that you are looking across deep ocean waters. In fact, most of the land mass of the islands lies just below the water. Therefore, you should imagine Maldives as one large island, with most of the land just below the water surface, and only the occasional hill protruding out of the water to make up the islands.

This fact makes diving holiday in Maldives search an exciting prospect because of the coral reefs. Often these reefs are only just below the surface of the water, making for an incredible and exciting dive experience, especially for those slightly less experienced in diving, like myself. Maldives offers unrivalled opportunities that are normally only found in deeper coral reefs.

There are 1200 islands, the chain, but only 200 of them are inhabited, leaving 1000 unspoilt, stunningly beautiful islands to visit. The lack of human contact and pollution also means that these islands offer incredibly unspoilt diving in Maldives. With thousands of the highest quality dive locations to explore.

Some Maldives dive spots can literally be walked to from the shore. Others are in relatively remote locations that require a boat and an experienced guide to reach. The number of world-class dive sites found in this little stretch of the world’s oceans is incredible. Here are a couple of the more world-renowned sites.

The Victor Wreck is located to the west of airport island, Hulule. This is the most famous wreck in the Maldives island chain. Here, you can visit with the famous sea turtle that lives around the wreck; you also come across schools of fusiliers and the infamous barracuda. Unfortunately, this wreck lies in relatively deep waters at over 100 feet, so was only suitable for those more experienced in diving Maldives.

Just off North Male’ Atoll lies Banana Reef, not surprisingly; this curved reef network resembles a banana. The upper part of the reef is a mere eight or ten feet below the water’s surface, making it an ideal location for those who are trying out the sport of diving in Maldives, possibly for the first time. Another area the same Reef drops steadily down, until eventually reaching over 100 feet in depth.

It is certain that no matter how much, or how little experience you have, diving Maldives holidays will be an astounding and sensational underwater experience you will never forget.

Escape to the ultimate exclusive honeymoon destination, the Maldives.

The Maldives is a stunningly beautiful country made up of nearly 1200 islands. This ’Robinson Crusoe’ paradise destination is considered by many to be the most romantic honeymoon destinations on the planet.

In December 2007 it was voted the ‘World’s Most Romantic Destination’ at the annual World Travel Awards. It’s no wonder that so many couples choose to honeymoon in Maldives.

The Romantic atolls of the enchanting Maldives offer unrivalled scenery, picture postcard white sand beaches and some of the clearest water anywhere in the world. The numerous stunning ‘hotel’ rooms perched on stilts above the water out in the ‘mill pond’ calm ocean, are regarded as among the most picturesque and exotic accommodation locations to be found anywhere.

Many newlyweds choose to honeymoon in inclusive Maldives hideaways to get away from everything and everybody. A honeymoon maldives package can provide the ultimate escape from everyday bustle found in so many other resorts around the world.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes chose to honeymoon in Maldives when they were married. And apparently according to Katie, there was nowhere else on their list.

The Maldives, sits on the equator around 500 Kms south of the tip of India. Because of its stunning isolation, it has developed totally independently with its own culture and traditions. Although it’s fair to say it has been influenced by other cultures of the Middle East, India, and the British.

Although remote, the islands are easily reached from airports around the world, linking to the country’s international airport which is located in the capital Male.

The country offers a wide range of resorts and other types of hotel accommodation, so it is sure that you will be able to find your ideal honeymoon bolt hole. Many hotels and resorts are pleased to offer honeymoon inclusive Maldives holidays to suit all age groups and all budgets.

Accommodation, in all price ranges is considered to be of a good quality compared to other similar destinations. When you are not tucked away in your hotel or luxury Oceanside ‘hut’ there are many attractions and things to do on this little slice of heaven.

Those that choose to honeymoon in Maldives are often water sports enthusiasts. As the atolls of the Maldives are world famous for all kinds of water sports activities including windsurfing, sailing, parasailing and waterskiing. Perhaps the water sports most suited to the island’s are scuba-diving and snorkeling. The region’s incredibly clear, warm waters offer limitless possibilities for those wishing to enjoy on the water sightseeing at its very best.

A honeymoon Maldives package can offer incredibly good value for money, and an unforgettable romantic escape to a different world. If you are searching for the ultimate destination, you will not find a more romantic place on the planet to experience your Maldives honeymoon.

The Maldives is located on the equator so naturally ,the weather in the Maldives is consistent with any other country that enjoys an equatorial climate. There are very different and distinct seasons, the South West, monsoon season which is referred to as the ‘wet season’ or “halhangu”, and the North East monsoon season know as the dry season or “iruvai”.

The Maldives climate can vary considerably between these two very different Maldives weather patterns. There is however hardly any variance in air and water temperatures, year round.

The northeast monsoon begins in January, lasting only until March. This is the warm as opposed to hot season of weather in the Maldives; the reason for this is that the Maldives are a string of small islands that are surrounded on all sides by the ocean.

So days that should in theory, be unbearably hot, are very often tempered by near constant sea breeze that brings a fresh, cooling action to the land.

The wet season starts in May and runs through until November, it is at its height in the June to August period and can produce torrential rains. Very severe weather, such as cyclones and tropical storms are rare in the Maldives area.

The other decisive factor of the Maldives climate is a North/South difference in weather patterns that separates the northern and southern atolls. The more southerly islands receive more rainfall than those to the north. Consequently, the Northern islands generally experienced higher temperatures, with less sporadic showers.

Conversely, when cyclones are formed to the north of the islands in the Arabian Sea on the Bay of Bengal, although not directly affecting the island, the weather in the Maldives can turn to huge dark clouds especially above the Northern islands.

Maldives weather experiences a transitional period that separates the monsoon seasons, beginning in April and terminating towards the end of May. During this period there may be some daytime light showers and slightly cooler temperatures in the evening.

December to April are considered the best to visit the islands when the weather in the Maldives is at its most pleasant. With lots of sunshine every day, beautiful skies and constant breezes keeping the temperature very compatible for tourist activities.

Average temperatures across the islands vary very little throughout the year, ranging from around 23° up to a maximum of 32°, the average hovering around the 30° mark throughout the year.

If you are not used to the sort of tropical climates experienced by the Maldives weather, it may be difficult to comprehend that although rain is frequent and occasionally heavy, a large part of the time this rain takes the form of very quick downpours, although some of these can be torrential. They often only last a few minutes and the sun quickly dries out its effects. There is a saying that you “cannot have paradise without rain”, and the Maldives qualify on both counts.
